Monster in the Mansion Best Characters (Roles)
Best characters in Monster in the Mansion: a pre-launch role ranking of Runner, Decoy, Support, and Cure Carrier by round impact.
Monster in the Mansion Best Characters Tier List
In Monster in the Mansion, your character decides how quiet, fast, and useful you are when the hunt begins. This tier list ranks every playable survivor by survivability and team value — not by raw speed. A character that gets you and your squad killed is D-tier no matter how fun it is.
Rankings reflect Early Access balance and will shift as the developer patches. Treat tiers as a starting point, then match your pick to your squad's needs.
S-Tier — The Survivors You Want
Stealth Specialist
- Lowest footstep noise in the game; the monster struggles to hear them.
- Best for baiting the monster away from objectives without drawing it.
- Pair with a Support and your squad barely gets hunted.
Support
- Can ping the monster for the whole team and share vision perks.
- Keeps the squad coordinated, which is the single biggest survival multiplier.
- Quiet enough to be safe; valuable enough to be a must-pick.
A-Tier — Strong and Flexible
Scout
- Fast at reaching objectives and scouting routes.
- A little louder than Stealth, but the speed pays off for squad efficiency.
- Great if your team already has a quiet anchor.
Medic
- Revives downed teammates — turns a wipe into a close call.
- Slightly louder; needs a clear area to work.
- Essential for longer, harder rounds.
B-Tier — Useful, Situationally Risky
Engineer / Locksmith
- Opens locked routes and handles objective props faster.
- Not stealthy — relies on the squad to cover noise.
- Pick when objectives are the bottleneck, not the monster.
Utility
- Middle-of-the-road stats; decent at everything, great at nothing.
- Fine for casual squads that stay together.
C-Tier — Fun, But Dangerous
Loudmouth / Reckless
- High noise or flashy perks that draw the monster.
- Entertaining and aggressive, but they get caught far more often.
- Only pick if your squad can fully cover for you.
How to Build Your Squad
A balanced co-op squad looks like:
- 1 Stealth Specialist (anchor)
- 1 Support (coordination)
- 1 Scout or Medic (tempo / saves)
- Everyone else fills gaps
Avoid a squad of four Loudmouths — you will spend the round being hunted.
